Job description

A Business Development Manager (BDM) plays a crucial role in a business company's growth and expansion. They are responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with potential clients or partners, and driving revenue growth. The role requires a combination of strategic thinking, sales acumen, and strong communication skills.

Job responsibilities

  • Market Research and Analysis: BDMs conduct market research to identify trends, competitive landscapes, and potential areas for business growth. They analyze data to make informed decisions.
  • Client Identification: They identify and target potential clients, partners, or markets that align with the company's growth strategy.
  • Lead Generation: BDMs develop and execute lead generation strategies to identify and qualify potential business opportunities. This involves cold calling, networking, attending industry events, and leveraging online resources.
  • Proposal Development: They prepare proposals, presentations, and pitches to showcase the company's products or services and demonstrate their value to potential clients.
  • Relationship Building: Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders is crucial. BDMs nurture these relationships to foster trust and long-term collaborations.
  • Negotiation and Closing Deals: BDMs negotiate terms and conditions with clients or partners, aiming to secure profitable contracts and agreements. They often participate in contract negotiations.
  • Sales Strategies: They develop and implement sales strategies, including pricing models, sales forecasts, and sales targets to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: BDMs collaborate with various departments within the company, such as marketing, product development, and finance, to ensure that the company's offerings align with market demands and customer needs.
  • Reporting and Analysis: They track and report on key performance metrics, such as sales revenue, conversion rates, and market penetration, to assess the effectiveness of their strategies.

Experienced Business Development Managers may advance to higher-level roles such as Director of Business Development, Vice President of Sales, or Chief Business Officer. They may also choose to specialize in a specific industry or start their own business.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Minimum 8 years work experience as Employee Assistance Professional
  • CA Licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) or,
  • CA Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT or LMFT) or,
  • A licensed psychologist in the state of California (PhD)
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with our staff and faculty
  • Ability to work effectively both on an individual basis and as part of a team
  • Strong computer skills to maintain accurate and complete documentation
